(Watch) Tackling climate change through strategic partnerships

Dow, the International Olympic Committee and ERM discuss their Carbon Partnership – its objectives, how it was developed, and the positive impact it’s generating

A long-term mindset. A consideration for all aspects of the value chain. Delivering value well beyond the agreed scope. And the ability to think outside the box.

These are the elements that are fundamental to forming a successful strategic partnership according to Nicoletta Piccolrovazzi, Michelle Lemaitre and Braulio Pikman.

All three contributed to a wide-ranging conversation about the importance of collaboration when addressing big global issues during our webinar, Tackling climate change through strategic partnerships.

As well as discussing the key elements of strategic partnerships and how to identify appropriate partners, Piccolrovazzi (Dow Olympic & Sport Solutions’ global technology and sustainability director), Lemaitre (head of sustainability for the IOC), and Pikman (expert advisor at ERM) demonstrated how Dow’s Carbon Partnership with the IOC drives – and continues to deliver – significant carbon reductions through investments in material science and low-carbon technologies.

Watch the full webinar (above) to discover more about the partnership and its impact. During the presentation, you will learn:

– Why strategic partnerships are crucial to addressing climate change

– How to cultivate strategic partnerships

– What can be achieved through working in partnership

During the presentation, Piccolrovazzi reveals Dow’s climate neutrality roadmap, Lemaitre explains how the Carbon Partnership helped the IOC engage international sports federations in sustainability, and Pikman details why independent verification is fundamental to assessing credibility and impact of carbon reduction projects.

The audience was also given the opportunity to express their point of view through a number of polls in which they were asked:

– How important a priority climate change is for their organisation

– What they look for most in a sustainability partner

– How they see sport as a platform to drive climate action across industries

You can find out the results by watching the full webinar. And mark 29th July in your diary for our second webinar in association with Dow, Reimagining the built environment for the low carbon economy.
